The road from commercial window manufacturer to awesome wedding venue was a long one, but the results were worth it. From 1955 to 2016, the 30,000-square-foot factory at 145 Holden St. in Minneapolis was a glass- and mirror-making machine, churning out window after window. And when its churning days were over, Hennepin Made, crafters of some of the best blown-glass lighting, took over.
Oh, and they turned the 4,150-square-foot Holden Room into a rentable event space—because why not?
“We took a raw warehouse space and revamped all of the details,” says Hennepin Made co-founder Jackson Schwartz. “Weddings are arguably the most important day in many people’s lives, so our goal was to create a beautiful canvas for such special events.”
They kept the original polished concrete floors (which got a little TLC during the renovation), exposed steel beams and north- and west-facing windows, but they added a glass garage door, painted the whole room white, upgraded finishes and, naturally, installed Hennepin Made lighting.
The modern industrial-style space fits 250 for a seated dinner and up to 450 for standing-room-only events. Besides the Holden Room, the warehouse is the happy home to Hennepin Made’s operations, a café and a retail/party lab.
