A Classic, Playful Day With Pops of Bright Reds and Pinks at The Neu Neu

Alicia Lerner & Shane Doane tied the knot in style on their fifth anniversary as a couple. “When we realized September 9th fell on a Saturday in 2023 we knew that had to be our wedding date,” says Alicia. The two met through a friend when Alicia organized a group outing on Minneapolis’ party bike tour, Pedal Pub. From there, they just kept on pedaling. True to their fun-loving nature, Alicia and Shane’s big day comprised playful moments as well as personal details. They started off by reading “funny vows” to each other during the first look, which was followed by a beautiful ceremony officiated by the friend who introduced them. The spirited couple played “Rock, Paper, Scissors” at the altar to determine who would say their vows first. And although traditionally done by the groom, the ceremony ended with Alicia acknowledging her Jewish heritage by breaking the glass in a cloth bag, hand-embroidered by Shane’s aunt. The reception design, which the couple imagined as “classy whimsy,” was achieved by incorporating bright florals and colorful balloons balanced with chic black and white touches. At the forefront was the desire to make the day a party, so the first thing the couple did was rent a white bounce house. “This was a HUGE hit with our guests, and people were using it all night!” The celebration was stacked full of nods to Alicia and Shane’s relationship with details ranging from a choreographed first dance and signature cocktails to Minnesota-themed goodie bags and custom Milkjam ice cream. “Our wedding day was extremely unique, true to us, and fun,” said the bride.
