A. As a plus-sized bride, your choices aren’t as restricted as they might first appear. The Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul offers brides a dedicated “woman’s department” with dresses by 15 different designers in sizes 14W to 32W. The store carries almost any style imaginable, from mermaid cuts and empire waists to exposed backs and figure-hugging wraps. “For a long time, plus-sized brides had limited options in terms of the styles offered,” says general manager Carolyn Fritz. “We treat our woman’s department the same way we treat our regular department by offering plus-sized brides a variety of styles.” Another perk to shopping there? Sample dresses come in plus-sizes as well, not just the standard eight or 10 that most stores carry.
